Whilst out and about looking at great examples of community work in South West Wales, Altaf paid a visit to 'The Centre' at Baglan Community Church. The Church has been successful in raising funds to renovate a previously delapidated building and transforming it into a shining hub which engages in activities for the benefit of the whole community in Baglan. The building now comprises a Church, youth club facilities available to all - irrespective of faith, musical performance facilities, a conference centre and office space rented out to local businesses. There is also an excellent Cafe, run entirely 'not-for-profit' and the coffee comes highly recommended!
Altaf said: "This is a prime example of what groups can achieve when they get together and have a vision to make practical improvements to their local community. I am very grateful to Chris Tossell for taking the time out of his day to give me an extensive tour of the building and explain to me the work they do, and how their 'business plan' is working for them. I'd be delighted to come again as the coffee was excellent - as was the welcome".
