With concerns raised by the Welsh Government over delays to Swansea Bay’s Tidal Lagoon project, Welsh Conservative AM for South Wales West Dr Altaf Hussain AM has cautioned that a deal on the ‘strike price’ must not be rushed. He says that it is vital to get this right as this will deliver the best value for the taxpayer.
Altaf said “The strike price will be, in reality, a subsidy to the tidal lagoon. It is therefore vital that the government ensures that any strike price gets the right balance between the cost to the taxpayer and support for the industry.
“Given the challenging economic climate the government should not rush into a strike price that disadvantages the taxpayer and ultimately peoples’ energy bills.”
