Altaf was delighted to have been at the official opening of the new wing at Porthcawl Museum and Art Gallery with First Minister Carwyn Jones AM, Madeleine Moon MP and Suzy Davies AM. It is always a pleasure for the South Wales West Assembly Member to return to this "jewel in Porthcawl's crown", which he has visited and supported in the past.
The new room features the 'Porthcawl Railway Exhibition' outlining the story of the branch-line from Pyle to Porthcawl. A reconstructed police cell will evoke memories of policing in years gone by. The opening also coincides with the beginning of Welsh Museum Festival Week, which gives it an extra significance.
Altaf said: "The success of this project - which once faced closure - really is a testament to the hard work and commitment of the volunteers who have ensured that the museum remains open and a real asset to the town of Porthcawl".
