In one of his first meetings as South Wales West's newest AM, Altaf was given a full tour of Swansea Central Library, by Steve Hardman, Head of Libraries for the City and County of Swansea and Andrew Morris, the Duty Manager.
As Altaf said” It was great to learn about how the library does so much more than simply house books. With over 330,000 visits a year, it is clear how much value the library services deliver to every section of the community in Swansea and also the huge amount of support they offer to our thriving student community”.
Altaf was enthralled to learn that Swansea has pioneered a project, where every child at Primary School becomes automatically enrolled in their local library. This has now been adopted as 'best practice' by local authorities across the UK - and indeed around the world.
