Altaf has paid a visit to some of the charity shops operating in Porthcawl.
He was particularly keen to find out more about the work of the volunteers that staff them, giving up their time freely to support a cause they passionately believe in.
Altaf was delighted to meet with volunteers from the Shaw Trust, Tenovus, Ty Hafan and Age Cymru and gain a better understanding of the work they do.
Altaf said: "It was humbling to meet with so many people who work tirelessly for the good of others. There really is no such thing as the 'typical volunteer'. The people I was lucky enough to meet make this contribution because they are passionate about serving the wider community and the causes they believe are most important - we cannot overstate how important a role the volunteers play in genuinely making a better word.
"My overriding message would be THANK YOU for all the work you do; day-in, day out and without a salary. Your work makes a difference and we all owe you a debt of thanks".
