With Small Business Saturday around the corner, Dr Altaf Hussain took the time out to visit Ty Tanglwyst Farm in Pyle, where he met with farmers Rhys & John Lougher and also Abigail Reader, Chair of Glamorgan National Farmers Union.
Altaf got to find out about some the issues facing farmers in South West Wales and discuss how Welsh Conservative Policies can benefit the agricultural sector in Wales. Welsh Conservatives have pledged to create 'blue belt' land initiatives to designate land areas prone to flooding and ban all development, introduce a Red Meat Charter for Wales and make a commitment to community energy initiatives.
Altaf said: "Agricultural businesses make up a vital part of our SME sector, and it is often overlooked that they face similar issues to many of our other small businesses - whilst also having very unique challenges specific to them. They are the lifeblood of our rural areas - I learned a lot discussing public procurement, food security, funding schemes and grants, TB and badgers, and also the effect of the EU and Russian sanctions on Welsh Farmers".
